Dr. Simeons HCG Diet Protocol to Treat Obesity
Posted by
onAfter Dr. Albert T.W. Simeons received his medical degree from the University of Heidelberg in Germany, he went on to pursue endocrinology. He is known for discovering a treatment for malaria and contributed to research that helped control the bubonic plague and leprosy. He is most remembered by his development of the HCG Diet Protocol to help countless people lose weight.
The Treatment of Obesity
Dr. Simeons noted that obesity is always due to one very specific diencephalic deficiency and the only way to cure it is to correct this deficiency. He remembered an observation made in India. At that time there was little known about the function of the diencephalon and his interest centered around the pituitary gland. Froehlich had described cases of extreme obesity and sexual underdevelopment in youths suffering from a new growth of the anterior pituitary lobe, producing what then became known as Froehlich’s disease. Froelich syndrome is characterized by obesity and hypogonadism due to a hypothalamic-pituitary disorder. The hypothalamus is a part of the brain where certain functions such as sleep cycles and body temperature are regulated. ... Fröhlich's syndrome, also called Adiposogenital Dystrophy, is a rare childhood metabolic disorder characterized by obesity, growth retardation, and retarded development of the genital organs. It is usually associated with tumors of the hypothalamus, causing increased appetite and depressed secretion of gonadotropin. The term 'Froelich syndrome' is rarely used today.
It became known that in these cases, the sex organs could be developed by giving the patients injections of a substance extracted from the urine of pregnant women, having shown that when this substance was injected into sexually immature rats, it made them precociously mature (exhibiting mature qualities at an unusually early age). The amount of substance which produced this effect in one rate was called one International Unit, and the purified extract was accordingly called “Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin” (HCG). Chorionic signifies that it is produced in the placenta and gondadotrophin that its action is sex-gland directed.
Since HCG was expensive, Dr. Simeons discovered that small daily doses appeared to be just as effective as much larger ones given twice a week. He also discovered that the change in the shape of the body was explained by a movement of fat away from abnormal deposits on the hips and, if that were so, that fat would be available to the body to use as fuel and would be able to replace food. He then discovered it was possible to keep a person on a severely restricted diet without a feeling of hunger, despite a rapid loss of weight. He found that as long as patients were given small daily doses of HCG, they could comfortably go on a diet of only 500 calories daily and lose an average of about one pound per day.
He provided instructions on how to achieve a short-term solution with long-term results so that overweight individuals could lose excess pounds in a short amount of time while fixing the metabolic problems that led to the weight gain in the first place and learning the importance of good nutrition and practicing a healthy way of eating.
The HCG Diet is for men and women, is easy to follow and, if you follow it properly, it will work for you too!
