Diet Side Effects Explained: Rash

Posted by HDS Diet Store on

Some people find themselves with a rash or other slight skin irritation shortly after starting their round on the diet. This is nothing to worry about, but does need some explaining.

The diet works by helping your body to cleanse itself from all the bad fats, preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, pollution and other harmful toxins. Our skin is an organ through which detoxification can occur. This means, for some people, that they may develop a rash or acne. This is their body’s way of excreting toxins during the diet. This is by no means a lasting problem, so don’t quit at the first sign of irritation.

Of course, if the condition gets to a point where you feel concerned for your health, please don’t hesitate to contact your doctor. However, if you’re just looking for a little relief, there are a couple of rash remedies you can make at home. Many of our customers reported that these remedies really helped.

Option 1: Mix ¼ cup apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water and apply it to the affected area.

Option 2: Use Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment which is oatmeal-based and has not shown to have any negative affect on weight loss while helping calm skin irritation.

Remember... using regular lotion while on Phase 2 of the diet is a big 'no-no'. The fats and oils inside of lotions can be absorbed through your skin and cause slower weight loss or stalls! If you have dry skin on the diet you can use one of 2 things...

  1. Mineral oil, it doesn't absorb pass the first few layers of skin, but can also leave you feeling (and looking) greasy.
  2. Tiffalina's Oil-Free Body Lotion. This lotion was specifically formulated for use on oil-free diets like the HCG Diet, Nutrimost Diet, Shape Reclaimed Diet, etc. See more about Tiffalina's Body Lotion here.
